Eko Atlantic City
Eko Atlantic city is an entire new coastal city being built on the coastline of Victoria island standing on 10 million square meters of land reclaimed from the ocean and protected by an 8.5km long sea wall.
Eko Atlantic will be the size of Manhattan skyscraper district, self-sufficient and sustainable. It includes the state-of-the-art urban design, its own power generation, clean water, advanced telecommunications, spacious roads and tree-lined streets.
The project is one of the most ambitious real estate development projects ever undertaken in Africa and a mega city that would provide new homes for 250 000 people and will house 70 percent of the skyscraper in West Africa simultaneously protecting the coastline and solving Lagos chronic shortage of quality housing.
Eko Atlantic is not just an estimate but a city where citizens and foreigners can live and work in. Currently there are less than 10 percent of buildings construction going on on the city because buying a land in Eko Atlantic is not for the weak-hearted.
Prices in Eko-Atlantic have nearly doubled since construction began in 2008. Currently there are about 40% more than the land values in its close neighbourhood. Cost of land is about 2500 dollars per square meter that is about 2.5 million dollars for 1000 square meters. A plot of land closer to the marina or ocean would cost even more.
