Download & read Amnesty’s report titled "The Human Cost of a Megacity: Forced Evictions of the Urban Poor in Lagos" published in 2017.
The research report conducted by Amnesty International highlighted the fact that "forced evictions" were taking place in Lagos State without consultation, adequate prior notice, provision of compensation or alternative housing - contrary to Nigeria’s international legal obligations.
Nigeria is a party to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and other international and regional human rights treaties, which ban it from carrying out forced evictions.
